Cecil H. Baker
Veteran Cecil H. Baker, age 76, Fairfax, Missouri, died Tuesday, June 26, 2018, at his home.
Cecil was born in Reno, Nevada, on February 23, 1942, the son of Claude and Julia (Strough) Baker. The family moved to California for two years before relocating back to the Maryville, Missouri, area.
Cecil grew up on the family dairy farm near Maryville. He was a 1961 graduate of Maryville High School.
On December 28, 1962, he was united in marriage to Shilah Lewis. Cecil and Shilah lived in Cosby, Missouri, until 1963, when they moved to the Fairfax area.
Cecil was employed by several different farmers in the Fairfax community. He had also worked for the Stoner Machine Shop.
Cecil was a United States Army veteran, serving his country from 1966-1968 in the Vietnam War.
After his military service, Cecil was employed as a mechanic at the Fairfax Implement Company. He later also worked for the Keim Implement Company in Hamburg, Iowa.
After declining health, Cecil passed away at his home. He was preceded in death by his parents and his daughter Rhonda, who died in 1985.
Cecil is survived by his wife, Shilah of the home; son, Randy of Fairfax; grandchildren, Rhonda Kay and Keevan Baker; brother, Danny Baker of Phoenix, Arizona; and sister, Janet (Fred) Campbell of Clarksdale, Missouri.
Funeral services were held June 30, 2018, at the Fairfax Baptist Church, Fairfax, Missouri. Burial was in the English Grove Cemetery, near Fairfax. Memorials may be directed to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital.
Local arrangements were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax/Craig.
