A funeral service was held at 10 a.m. on Friday, October 1, 2010, at the Fairfax Baptist Church in Fairfax, MO, for Wayne Leo "Dub" Harrington, 89, of Faifax. Burial was in the English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax. Military rites at the cemetery were under the auspices of the Allen-Schiffern American Legion Post #199. The Schooler Funeral Home of Fairfax was in charge of arrangements.
Dub passed away Monday, September 27, 2010, at his home in Fairfax. He was born on August 13, 1921, near Fairfax, and was a lifelong resident of the area. His parents were Elmer and Sally C. Flanagan Harrington. They preceded him in death. He was also preceded in death by a brother, Dale "Mack" Harrington; a sister, Delpha Whitham; two nephews, John David Volger and Gavin McCall; and a niece, Kerry Roop Bennett.
Dub was a U.S. Army veteran of WWII. He was with the 105th Field Artillery Battalion and saw action in Eastern Mandates, Bismarck, Archipelago, and Ryukus.
Dub had been employed at Eaton Corp., Sod-busters Hardware, and had worked many years for the City of Fairfax. He had been the City Marshall, the Fire Chief, and spent many years with the Water Department.

Dub was a member of the American Legion Post #0284, Fairfax. From 1948 to 1975, he was a fireman with the Volunteer Fire Department. The department named him an honorary member in later years.
Left to mourn his passing is his wife, Dorothy Harrington of the home; his children, Mike (Nancy) Harrington of Fairfax, Carol (Steve) Riley of Tarkio, Connie (Steve) Lewis of Fairfax, Linda (Ernie) Howell of Tarkio, Janet (Bill) Lingerfelt of Rock Port, MO, and Lisa England of Tarkio; brother, Clyde Harrington of Omaha, NE; two sisters, Rowena (Richard) Smith and Betty (Jake) McCall, both of Rock Port; 15 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorials are suggested to the Fairfax Volunteer Fire Department.
