Teddy "Ted" Scott Simmons
3/28/21Teddy “Ted” Scott Simmons, age 69, Fairfax, Missouri, died Sunday, March 28, 2021, at Community Hospital-Fairfax, Fairfax, Missouri.
Ted was born March 22, 1952, in Fairfax. He was the son of the late Norman Lee and Viola Fern (Tudor) Simmons.
A lifelong resident of the Fairfax community, he graduated from Fairfax R-3 in 1970. In his younger years, Ted worked on multiple farms putting up hay and had been a farm hand for Gordon and Dick VanGundy. He had also worked for Moore Brothers Oil, which he purchased in 1976. The same year he changed the station name to Simmons MFA Service. His brother Bud joined Ted as a co-owner of the business in 1981.
Ted had been a former member of the Volunteer Fire Department and the Optimist Club, both of Fairfax.
Ted was preceded in death by his parents and his father-in-law, Willis Riley.
His survivors include his wife, Vickie, of the home; three sons, Aaron (Bambi) Simmons and Cole Simmons, both of Fairfax, and Troy (Michaela) Simmons, Lenexa, Kansas; his brothers and sisters, Terry (Barb) Simmons, Karen (Chris) Easley, Brenda (Donnie) Brandt, and Bud (Lyn) Simmons, all of Fairfax, and Sharon (Dave) Wynn, Tarkio, Missouri; three grandchildren, Rylie Simmons and Brooks and Kenna Simmons; two step-grandchildren, Kinley Thornhill and Kelly (Billy) Daugherty; two step-great-grandchildren, Paisleigh and Liam Daugherty; a special niece, Jill (Alex) Wheatley, LaVista, Nebraska; and a host of other friends and loved ones.
Private graveside memorial services and inurnment will be held in the English Grove Cemetery near Fairfax. The family will receive friends from 2:00 – 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 1, 2021, at Simmons MFA Service in Fairfax. Memorials, which will be determined later, may be given to the family. Arrangements are under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax/Craig.
