Frances Ethel Stoner, 99, Fairfax, Missouri, died January 30, 2019, at Pleasant View Nursing Home in Rock Port, Missouri.
Ethel was born August 3, 1919, in rural Atchison County, Missouri. She was one of several children born to George A. and Frances (Wiley) Brim.
Ethel grew up and attended school in the Rock Port and Fairfax area. She was united in marriage to Beuford Stoner on March 26, 1939. They established their home in Fairfax. To this union two children were born, a son Fred and daughter Susan.
Ethel was very involved in her community. She was an active member of the Fairfax First Presbyterian Church, where she served as a deaconess, choir member, Sunday School teacher and a member of United Presbyterian Women. Ethel also served as a Brownie Girl Scout leader and was a member of the Fairfax Community Hospital Auxiliary. One of her favorite pastimes was quilting.
Preceding her in death were her parents, husband Beuford (March 20, 1992), son Fred Arthur Stoner (July 11, 2005), daughter Susan Marie (Stoner) Spence (December 26, 2017), three brothers, Virgil, Arthur, George Brim, Jr., and four sisters, Margaret Stoner, Ruth Patterson, Itrice Gray and Joyce Nauman.
She is survived by her daughter-in-law, Debbie Stoner, Fairfax; son-in-law, Bill Spence, Caledonia, Michigan; grandchildren, Scott, Gina, Stacy, Shawn, Jason, Christopher, Matthew, Shawn, Samantha, Amy, Bridgett; many great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other friends and loved ones.
Funeral services were held Monday, February 4, 2019, at the Fairfax First Presbyterian Church. Burial was in the English Grove Cemetery, Fairfax.
Arrangements were under the direction of Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax/Craig.
