Marsha Straub, age 77, Fairfax, Missouri, passed away at home on September 27, 2024.
Marsha was born on March 12, 1947, in Maryville, Missouri. She attended elementary school in Nishnabotna, Missouri, and was a graduate of Rock Port High School with the class of 1964. She attended Northwest Missouri State University in Maryville for one year where she met her future husband, Matt.
Marsha and Matt Straub were married in 1966. They lived in Fairfax, where they built a new home in 1969. To this union two sons were born, Jason in 1966 and Justin in 1969.
Justin started his own business and has restored over 50 houses in the area.
Marsha worked as the manager for the Fashion 220 Company for five years. During that time, she earned several awards, one of which was a pink Cadillac. Later, Marsha was employed at Community Hospital-Fairfax, working in the admissions department.
Marsha loved interacting with all the people and their families she met while doing admitting. She retired from the hospital in 2014 after 34 years of service.
Marsha believed in good health and exercise. She and Matt ran in many events in the area, winning several ribbons and trophies. She was still winning races well into her 60s. She and Matt organized The Pelican Pursuit race as a fundraiser for the hospital.
Marsha was preceded in death by her parents; mother, Viola Marie (Ward) Younger; son, Jason, who died in 1981; and three brothers, Wayne, Roger, and Glen Younger.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Matt Straub; son, Justin (Alicia) Straub; grandson, Mason (Ashley) Straub; granddaughter, Kendal Straub; great-granddaughter, Zola Straub; brothers, Donald and Terry Younger; sister, Dinah Hart; many nieces and nephews; and a host of other friends and loved ones.
Marsha’s body has been cremated under the care of the Schooler Funeral Home, Fairfax/Craig.
A memorial gathering for Marsha Straub, Fairfax, Missouri, will be held Saturday, October 26, 2024, from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. at 114 E. Main, Fairfax.
