Donald L. Thomson, the son of Richard Waldo and Gertrude Mae “Dolly” Thomson, was born January 10, 1964, in Fairfax, Missouri. He graduated from Tarkio High School, Tarkio, Missouri, in 1982.

On April 25, 1987, Donald was united in marriage to Jennifer Renee Rightsell at the Fairfax United Methodist Church. They became the parents of one son, Stephen, and made their home in the Tarkio area their entire married life. Donald passed away Thursday, July 11, 2013, at University of Nebraska Medical Center, Omaha, Nebraska, at the age of 49.

Donald worked as a farmer and rancher in the family farming and cattle operation. He was a hard worker and enjoyed working cattle. Donald loved his wife and son dearly, he loved spending time with Kimbo and loved spending time with all of his family on the farm. He talked to his brother and his son every day. Donald enjoyed attending local rodeos, the National Finals Rodeo in Las Vegas, Nevada, and Northwest Missouri State University football games. He was a member of the St. Paul’s Catholic Church and the Tarkio Rodeo Association Board, in Tarkio.

Donald was preceded in death by his grandparents, Earl and Wilma Peregrine and Waldo and Hazel Thomson. Survivors include his wife, Jennifer, of the home; son, Stephen Richard Thomson; parents, Richard and Dolly Thomson; sister, Rhonda Riley and husband, Jeff; brother, Ronald Thomson and wife, Shelley, all of Tarkio; nephews, Deyton Thomson and Dalton and Ethan Riley, all of Tarkio; mother and father-in-law, Dale and Dolly Kemerling, Fairfax; and numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.

Funeral Service: 10:00 A.M., Tuesday, July 16, 2013, St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Tarkio.
Interment: Home Cemetery, Tarkio.
Open visitation will begin 9:00 A.M., Monday, July 15, 2013, at Davis Funeral Home, Tarkio, where a Rosary will be recited that evening at 6:00 P.M., and the family will receive friends from 6:30-7:30 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Tarkio Rodeo Association or St. Paul’s Catholic Church, Tarkio.
